I've had Cataract surgery but not through the VA. One of the best things I've done. Opened a old world new again. |

Completely agree. I'd be interested in total cost without insurance, my co-payment with Kaiser was $250 each eye. Some people in SoCal have had it done in Tijuana, they were doing both eyes at the same time while they had dental work.
At Kaiser my doctor had to recommend I see their consultant, he was the surgeon and during the consultation he only told me it would help my sight - 20-50 then, and 20-20, 20-25 after surgery. Prior to that my cataracts were not significant enough to recommend I see the consultant.

100% agree. 84 years old and don't even wear glasses after my cataract surgery. 15 minutes each eye. All done and worth every penny spent.
Also unrestricted drivers license (Until it expired)
Now if they could do something similar with hearing.
hearing aids only amplify background like loud talkers and tv. No discrimination for human voices. |

Ron, totally agree with you on the hearing aids. My hearing still going South. I have hearing aids from a civilian company and also a set from the VA. The VA audiologist has tracked the same profile as the civilian one, however, the VA aids don't measure up to the civilian ones. Why? Who knows.
Had cataract surgery done also by civilian Dr. with good results. Medicare took care of the cost except for the initial eye exam.
Now, if I could get good results with my Urologist everything would be lovely. |

Had my cataracts removed about 10 years ago, by Medicare. My hearing aids cost me $2600 out of pocket, my pocket. The VA sucks! |
