DROLET, Gerard, 49, passed away at Melech Hospice House on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. He was born July 24, 1958, in Woonsocket, RI. He was in the Navy for 6 years and was in Vallejo submarine. He also worked at MacDill Airforce Base, Z-tel, and Switch and Data. Gerard was a member of St. Luke's and also attended Nativity Church near Longwood, where he was living. He is survived by his mother, Raffaela; fiance, Martha; stepson, Anthony; and stepdaughter, Jeanette. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 25, 6-8 pm, at Dobies Funeral Home, 701 E. Tarpon Ave. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church. Dobies Funeral Home-Tarpon


HAGERUP, Lars E., 76, resident of Concord, CA, passed away in Walnut Creek on Monday morning, October 22, 2007, following a short illness. Lars was born in Tromso, Norway in 1931, a son of Arne and Marie Hagerup, and has resided the past 44 years in Concord. He had served as a submariner with the Norwegian Navy, a radio officer in the Merchant Marines, and as a Communications Technician for AT&T. Lars will be missed by his loving wife of 51 years, June Hagerup; by his beloved children, Kenneth Lars Hagerup (Mary), Karin June Guilbault (Charlie), and Kristine Marie Acton; and by six adoring grandchildren, Kristina and Erik Hagerup, Jackie and Michelle Guilbault, and Steven and Thomas Acton. KURTZ, George A., TMC(SS), USN, Ret., 87, died on October 12, 2007. Chief Kurtz served on the USS RAY and USS REDFIN. He was COB on both boats. There is a picture of him on REDFIN web site in Charleston, 1958. He joined the Navy on October 5, 1938 and retired on August 1, 1968. He served on many other subs during his career, including Grayback, Tambor, Tautog, Dolphin, Spikefish, Diablo, Sirago, Tarpon, Cobbler, and Theo. Roosevelt. (Obit not available at this time)


PERRY Michael L. Perry, SKSR, USN, 20, of Milford, CT, beloved son of Lawrence and Deborah A. Schneider Perry, passed away October 20, 2007. Born in Bridgeport, Michael graduated from High Horizons Magnet School, Bridgeport and Jonathan Law High School, Milford. He joined the U.S. Navy on November 14, 2006 and was stationed at the Naval Submarine Base in New London. Michael loved the outdoors, camping, especially with his family, fishing and times shared with his many friends. Survivors in addition to his beloved parents of Milford, include his loving brother and best friend Alex J. Perry of Milford, paternal grandfather, Arthur Perry Sr. of Stratford, maternal grandparents, George Schneider of Odenton, Maryland and Viola Schneider of Derby, his godparents, Arthur Perry Jr. of Aurora, Ohio and Faith Rhodes of Prospect, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Betty Ann Perry. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Redgate -Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, with LCDR Leila Gomulka, U.S. Naval Chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford, with full military honors. Friends may call Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. WILLIAMS, George A., 89, died October 18, 2007 at his home in Palmer, AK. A celebration of a life well lived will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Palmer Moose Lodge on South Cobb Street. George was born July 1, 1918, in Winnemucca, Nev., to George and Bernice Cooper Williams. He was raised in the area of Riggins, Idaho. George married Elayne Perry Lien in May 1957, and they moved to Sutton the next month. George's first job in Alaska was as a shovel operator at the Mrak Coal Mine.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving onboard the submarine USS Plaice (SS-390). In his retirement he was the Alaska commander for the WWII Submariners Association. George began his career in construction at the age of 17 with the Civilian Conservation Corps. His long career in the road construction industry in Alaska included work with several major construction companies, including MK Construction, MB Construction and Northwestern Construction. He held positions ranging from foreman to superintendent to general manager. He worked on the first phase of the Sitka airport and the dike project in Fairbanks. He was also involved with construction of the Dalton Highway haul road. In Fairbanks, George was the president of Doyon Construction during the startup phase of the company. George was past president of the Alaska Chapter of the Associated General Contractors and a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 302. He was instrumental in establishing the union's training center in Palmer. He belonged to the Moose, the Elks, the Palmer Lions Club, the Masonic Temple and the American Legion. He was also recognized by the Alaska Coal Miners Hall of Fame. In his earlier years, George enjoyed hunting and fishing, providing for his family with moose, sheep, salmon and halibut. George was an accomplished gardener and took great pride in his home, receiving several beautification awards from the City of Palmer. Survivors include his wife, Elayne Williams of Palmer; brother, Jack Williams of Idaho; sons, Donald Williams of Chandler, Ariz., George Williams of Tuscon, Ariz., and Kerry Williams of Eagle River; daughters, Kandace Williams of Toledo, Ohio, and Wendy Williams Garwood of Fairbanks; grandchildren, Michael Williams, Christie and Lisa Williams, Tila and Tara Williams, Molly Labadie, Jason Garwood, Jaime Edwards and Melissa Garwood; and great-grandchildren, Tristan, Austin, Mya, Harmony, Kyle and Kaia. Donations may be made to the Palmer High School Athletic Club, in memory of George Williams, 1170 W. Arctic Ave., Palmer 99645. Arrangements were provided by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
