For the many times he has said it for others, it hardly seems appropriate to express the loss."Sailor rest your oars, others have the watch!" |

T-Spoon was like everyone on this board with the exception of Blue who I personally met, being a submariner I only came to know via the internet. For me, his exchanges and humour on this BBS ticked all the boxes required to make him the kind of man I would want and appreciate as a true shipmate ever given that opportunity. He was a genuine example of those real characters both our navies went to such lengths to socially engineer from the service to their own great detriment. Accordingly, I am most saddened at his passing and extend my sincere condolences and sympathy to his family and friends on their sad loss. Wishing you fair winds and following seas sailor, on your last patrol to the Promised Land.

I last saw and talked with Tim at the Reno convention. We ran across each other in the social room. This was just after my heart bypass and he was still recovering from something, sadly I can't remember what it was right now but might be related to this latest incident. We sat and talked for about an hour. A truly nice man and shipmate! We'll meet on Fiddlers Green.

To paraphrase John Locke - the death of any man diminishes us all - particularly a boat sailing brother. Farewell and following seas, shipmate. |

A sad farewell to a fellow Balao Shipmate. Perhaps our time at the Bash at the Ranch was a taste of what Fiddlers Green is like, listening to the smooth sounds of the Sons of the San Juaquin at sunset?
Lay up to the cigarette deck and have a coffee and smoke. I will be along later.
We have the Watch, Shipmate,

Like you John, Tim always takes me back to the Bash - great stories that never ended. Always enjoyed the Balao stories and his Pampanito docent stories as well.
This passage is an especially painful one!
Fair winds Tim... |
