'Pure' gold would not last long and be out of shape very easily. Imagine the throne is an alloy to improve the hardness.

Something just occurred to me. Was Von S the only boat where the CO's toilet seat was white and all the others Black? One of the things I learned when I was leant to "A" Div for a run.

Must be a glowboat thing, I don't remember anything but stainless steel.  I'm thinking we might have have a black lid if anything.

Gil,

To the best of my recollection, the After Battery head on the Pickerel had no lid. Do you remember what was posted on the inner door for our reading pleasure while sitting on the head?

Something about, "Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense."

Our O boats had a stainless steel pan with a black bakelite hinged seat. No 'covering' lid.
