At random: Coronation ceremonies of Emperor Alexander II of Russia in 1855 were enlivened by a submarine concert. Wilhelm Bauer, a Bavarian inventor, took three musicians under the waters of Kronstadt Harbor in a submarine he had built, where they played appropriate music during the coronation. The music was distinctly heard on the surface.

Hi !

I have finally stopped lurking in the background and decided to join your forum. I am a retired MMCS(SS) "A" ganger (hence the lurking) that road four boats ( 2 boomers and 2 fast boats) four a total of 22 years. Qual boat was SSBN 620. I retired in 1994 as the COB from a hot running 688 and I am still associated with the submarine force in my current job. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and who knows maybe some of us have crossed paths in the past.

Welcome aboard John... always good to see new blood! Bring a friend or two

There's been a little squabbling recently but by and large this is a friendly and productive board - and very SLOW at times as well.

First of all how did the rest of the crew here know your name was John? Man I've read and reread your post and I sure didn't see a name of John. . . Don't really matter really because most of us come when called by other names not normally given to people at birth. Well I go by PEP. Rode Bonefish, Wahoo and Grayback outta Subic but that was during my tour at CSG-7 in Yoko. 68-77 with a few years of active reserves so I could actually make enough money to pay off 2 attorneys and all the court costs in 77. Got cancer 25 Sept 05 and the VA gutted me so I'm now been cancer free for 5 months. Bad part is I went from 226lbs down to 149-151 AH but on the good side I can buy brand spankin new Button Levi's for $6 or $7 dollars! Guess not many guys wear 29 or 30X32's That part I like and the fact that my feet didn't shrink so I can wear my boots with my brand new Levi's.
Nuff said. . . so Welcome aboard John 620MM

The same way that we know that PEP is short for Paul E. Perris.

Thanks for the welcome everybody, Don as far as the squabbles are concerned I just consider it to be sprited conversation. Nuc boats did not have an after battery but many these same sprited conversations took place in the TR.
