Sadly we are missing stories by Mike Hemming and a few others but this is a wonderful thing,

Alternately...
You can download the Dex files here - http://www.cdhaggard.com/Dex.zip
Save and Unzip the folder, and then open the __LookHereFirst.jpg File First...
As shown, The _Index.htm file is the one to open to show all the Dexisms...

If somebody has the time to copy the "other" stories not written by Dex, you can still get them here: https://web.archive.org/web/20160307014512/http://olgoat.com/ at the WayBack Machine
Too bad Ray didn't send someone a copy of the site on DVD when his health started slipping.
Ric, you have a treasure trove of pre-WWII stuff - hopefully you've got a "partner in crime" set up.

Don, yes. My partner at PigBoats.COM is Dave Johnston. Dave was a Darter sailor and got out of the Navy about the time she was decomm'd. At 9/11 he made the decision to go back in the Navy. Here is his story: http://www.pigboats.com/davebio.html The Bio is a bit out of date and needs to updated but was good up to that time of printing.
The page is an old version of PigBoats that I had set up with Dave and another fellow Rick Larson. Rick passed away and the page sat idle for a while before I Re-purposed it into what it is today.
Dave and I have talked many times about what is to happen to the page and he has agreed to take it over. He recently retired as a Navy chief with 20 years from the Navy and getting settled in his second civilian life. Dave will have total ownership of PigBoats domain and all its archives. I have just started to organize and prepare just in case. I'm 74 and anything can happen but I hope not. |

Don,
I already did that and have 286 pages of all of those other stories written by other boat sailors in a PDF file. I sent them to my cousin Ron and his computer Guru is going to put them up on Ron's BBS page, by the other Dex's After Battery Tales. It is a lot easier reading them now all in one document instead of logging in and out of each page. Some really interesting stories and observations - and of course they are all true TINS. |

Sounds good Dan. I think these old school BBS's are no long for the world. Facebook and others are taking over. I only bring this up as you, me, Ron et al... well, none of us are spring chickens so I can't exactly recommend you find a younger bbs-minder to keep a copy - they just don't exist.
Thanks for taking the time to grab them all!

I have them all, lately Ive been posting them of submarine facebook pages.
I will cooperate with anyone that wants to keep them all in one place.
PS I have written a few new ones and have a couple "in the works"
Ill remember to post them here.
My history got delete during a computer change sometime ago and this board got lost.
Thanks to shipmate Ron Mitchell for sending me the url and asking about this thread.
