Been looking at making some dietary changes.
Has anyone here had Plantains before? They are available in my market but I know nothing about them or how to prepare them.
How do they taste? |

The Caribbean potato. There are different recipes for ripe and green. They can be fried, baked, mashed, etc. I like fried ripe ones. Don't overcook. Taste varies with cooking. Me I am not going to say "About like Owl". My Dominician friends often serve them and I have to say I have never not enjoyed eating them. |

A friend of mine went to visit his brother-in-law Felix Trinidad, the former professional fighter in Puerto Rico. His first visit and it was ten years ago. He teaches martial arts and was exposed to them for the first time in the daily diet. Over the two week visit gained twenty pounds. Loves them, but won't eat them anymore.

That is the one I was talking about. Too much starch for me it seems. Need to mind my sugars. |

Ric a regular banana is very healthy with all the potassium you'll need. It's considered a perfect food, with all the vitamins and stuff in them. When I ran competitively I ate a banana almost everyday...but then I was in my 50's.

Cover the cut ends of each/bunch with packing tape, once your bananas have reached your desired level of ripeness, refrigerate them, they'll stay fresher longer. |
