We've "adopted" this picture for our business cards - do you know the story "behind" the picture?

John -

That photo was shot by Bob Taylor, a PAMPANITO volunteer, during the filming of "Down Periscope." I don't know whether Bob (or possibly the movie producers) reserved any rights to the photo - you might want to ask him. If you want to contact him, E-mail me and I'll forward it to Bob.

A few years back while Cowboy, Gary Walker, and myself were doing our overnight docent duties we trained a pack of cub scouts to man the maneuvering watch stations and cast off fully intending to make it to Yokosuka. We had told a few sea stories to the scouts and they voted to see for themselves so off we went.

Trouble is we forgot that there were no screws on the shafts and making headway was difficult. We were on the out going tide so did get past the Golden Gate but when the tide turned we ended back at Pier 45.

If you do nto believe this the next time you see a cub scout with a disappointed look on his faace just ask him.LOL

Now this is no sh-t,

Appears to be a diesel boat passing under the Golden Gate Bridge while John Clear passes overhead heading to Midas. DEX
