McHUGH, Daniel W., Jr., died on February 11, 2023. Born the son of the late Daniel W. McHugh, Sr., and Claire J. (Butler) McHugh in Salem, MA. A longtime resident of Salem and Rowley, he graduated from Salem High School and attended Bentley University. He enlisted in the US Navy Submarine Force in Groton, CT. While residing in Rowley he was a member of the Rowley Planning Board. He also founded and became Pres. & CEO of Great Meadow Farm, LTD. A firm that was a new and innovative leader in wetlands mitigation. Through this entity and his years of residency in Rowley he amassed a substantial amount of land and salt marsh wetlands along the Parker River which was later transferred to the Mass Audubon Society. Thus, allowing the public to enjoy a habitat that is unchanged and will remain so for future generations. An avid salesperson, Dan grew from selling Christmas trees grown on his farm, to closing major wetland enhancement projects in New England, N.J., and N.Y. He is survived by his brother, Bart McHugh; sisters Kathleen Gawrys; Julie McHugh and Mary Bruno. A Graveside Service and burial will be held at Rowley Burial Ground on Saturday, April 8, at 11:00 am. To leave a message of condolence please visit www.fsrobertsandson.com.
