RONTTI, Peter Michael, 48, of Iron Station, North Carolina died unexpectedly at home with his family on April 1, 2023. Pete was born to Lloyd Daniel Rontti and Rose Carol Norman Rontti in Esko, MN on January 26, 1975. He graduated from Esko High School in 1993. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy where he served aboard the submarine USS H. G. Rickover (SSN-709). He was honorably discharged in 1999 after 6 years as a Reactor Operator, Electronics Technician Second Class Petty Officer and Submarine Warfare qualified. He later moved to Huntersville, North Carolina and began his career at Duke Energy and served for over 20 years in Nuclear Operations. When moving to NC, he met his wife and moved to Iron Staton where he has lived for the past 18 years. Pete was a devoted husband & absolutely perfect person. He was a wonderful father to his "Daddy's girl" Emily Rose who was the light of his life and loving his family unconditionally including his pets. He spent most of his time when he was not at work with his family. He enjoyed playing video games, singing karaoke, playing board games, and watching football while cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. Pete is survived by his wife, Heather Auberry Rontti and daughter, Emily Rose Rontti. He is also survived by his sisters and brother Pamela (Brian Ford), Diane (Jim Pettit), Darlene (Tim Morriss), Mark (Tammy), Susan and Barbara (Michael Dimino). He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lloyd and Rose Rontti, brother Philip, sister Karen and very special uncle and aunt Charles and Barbara Norman. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date, and all will be welcome. In lieu of flowers we are accepting donations be sent to help pay for Emily's education.

WEGENER, Carl H., 74, died peacefully in Niagara Falls, NY on April 5, 2023. He was the son of the late James and Edith (Hanson) Wegener. Carl graduated from LaSalle High School before joining the Navy and serving his country for 6 years aboard the submarine USS Robert E. Lee (SSBN-601). During his service, he married the love of his life, Carol, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where they first met. The two were married on August 14, 1971 and spent 51 years together as man and wife. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1974, Carl worked at Electric Boat in Groton, CT and attended Thames Valley Technical School in Norwich, CT. Being naturally good at math and engineering, he went on to work as an Electronics & Relay Technician for the NYS Power Authority for over 30 years. He was very involved in the Zion Lutheran church, as well as being Vice President of Local IBEW 2104 and Membership Secretary and longtime member of the LaSalle Sportsman’s Club. Carl was a huge fan of the Yankees and the Bills. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, coaching his children’s baseball team, and playing euchre. He was a devoted family man and was known by everyone who knew him as a kind and compassionate man. Carl is survived by his wife, Carol J. (Henderson) Wegener; his two children, Carl W. and Shauna Wegener; his beloved granddog Ace; his siblings, James (Ann) Wegener, Elaine (Ron) Fees, and Erwin (Cindy) Wegener, Sr; brother-in-law Robert Henderson and sister-in-law Cheryle (late Douglas) Henderson. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by parents-in-law, Dugald and Doris Henderson and sister-in-law, Janelle Wegener.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 7, from 2 – 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Niagara Falls Memorial Park with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl’s memory may be made to Niagara Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church. NAIVAR, Franklin J., a long-time resident of Los Alamos, died peacefully in his sleep March 31, 2023. Franklin was born to Leo W. and Annie (Svrcek) Naivar, In Taylor, Texas on August 11, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo W. and Annie Naivar, his wife of almost 56 years, Aloma (Eiben) Naivar, daughter Julianne Marie Naivar, and brother Thomas Naivar. He was raised on the family farm near Granger, Texas. He was a graduate of St, Mary’s High School. Immediately after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a reactor operator on the fast attack submarine USS Barb (SSN-596). Nov. 11, 1964, he married the love of his life, Aloma Marie Eiben, his gift from God. He served for seven years in the U.S. Navy prior to his employment at Los Alamos National Laboratory. At LANL he worked briefly as a reactor operator on the Omega West Reactor in Los Alamos canyon before attending the University of Texas in Austin. Thanks to the GI Bill, and Aloma working fulltime as an RN, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering before returning to employment at LAMPF for almost 30 years at LANL. Franklin was active in scouting, loved sailing at Heron Lake, and RVing in pursuit of warm places in the winter. He also enjoyed camping with friends like Ken and Hazel Kutac of Los Alamos. Frank and Ken were Boy Scout masters and did a lot of hiking together. The whole family was blessed to have them caring for him in their home at the end of his days. He is survived by his three sons, Chris, Mark (Jennifer), and Steve, his granddaughter Laura Naivar, sisters Dorothy Nipper and Barbara Buratti. There will be a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 13 at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Los Alamos, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Frank’s remains will be buried at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9 a.m. Monday, April 17 next to his wife. The family requests donations be made to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. A special thank you goes to Los Alamos Visiting Nurses, and especially Jack, for their loving care and support to Frank.
