Wilhelm Bauer, a Bavarian inventor, took three musicians under the waters of Kronstadt Harbor in a submarine he had built, where they played appropriate music during the coronation. The music was distinctly heard on the surface. |

Plankowner Posts: 9165 Location: Upper lefthand corner of the map. | Subject: Happy Birthday Subamrine Service 123 years ago today the US Navy purchased the Holland 6 for a price of $150,000 making first submarine in an unbroken line to the present day. Visit http://pigboats.com/subs/holland.html to see a history of this historic submarine and ind its less than glorious ending. She would not be commissioned into the Navy until October 12, 1900 when all the changes were made to make her finally acceptable to them.  | ||
