METZ, Richard Allen, 83, died in Norfolk on Monday, April 3, 2023. He was born in Morgantown, WV to the late Shirley and Mildred Metz. He was also predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Brenda J. Metz and his son, Richard, Jr. as well. Richard lived most of his life in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area. He retired from the US Navy as a Senior Chief predominately working as a submariner. He later joined the Civil Service to complete his service to his country. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors. He loved gardening and just the simple beauty of nature and the great outdoors. Richard is cherished in memory by his children, David Metz (Kimberly), Felecia Booth (James), Brian Metz (Terry) and Kevin Metz (Jana); eight grandchildren, Richard Metz, III, Nicholas Metz, Shannon Booth, Tiffany Capps, Zane Metz, Zoe Metz, Christy Miller, and Justin Chevalier; four great grandchildren, Anthony James "AJ", Emmalyn, Lorrena and Chance. CRAIG, Lyle Dave, went home to his Heavenly Father on March 27, 2023. He married DeAnna, the love of his life, on June 13, 1965. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this year. During his lifetime, Dave spent several years in highway construction with his Dad. Shortly after that, he began a long career in the Navy Submarine Corp, specializing in nuclear power operations. He and DeAnna lived mostly on the East coast, with an exception of an assignment in Idaho, where he headed a Navy team in building the nuclear submarine facility at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). They loved their years in the Navy and made many lifelong friends. After retiring from the Navy, he and DeAnna eventually settled in Reno, where he began a second career as a Plant Supervisor at the Clorox Corporation’s Hidden Valley Ranch manufacturing facility. Retiring a second time, they then moved to Gold Beach, Oregon on the Rogue River, to follow his love of fishing. Dave leaves behind his loving wife DeAnna, son Monte (Trudy) Craig and daughter Lona Craig (James) Elvick. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He loved spending time with his fantastic children and was so very proud of them. Sisters Mary (Robert) McCarty, Corvallis, MT, Shirleen (Wayne) Farley, Willard, UT and brother Randy Harris (Betty) Craig, Layton, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley & Rachel Craig and one sister. Dave was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Rest in peace, God bless and keep you, sweetheart. You will be very missed. Funeral services will be held at Walton’s Funeral Home 600 West 2nd Street, Reno, NV on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
