This was the first WWII naval action between the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee and RN light cruiser units in the South Atlantic in 1939. It is a 1956 film in full color and excellent resolution to portray the engagements. Following the actions, all four vessels suffered serious damage and withdrew to lick their wounds and carry out repairs for the next round of the contest. Graf Spee opted to sail into Montevideo, Uruguay, for sanctuary but it was a neutral port and would only allow Captain Langsdorf 48 hours to carry out repairs.

Montevideo was full of world press awaiting to see the outcome of this battleship’s response to facing the RN force and whatever other naval units had by now been summoned to assist. Be prepared for an unexpected grand finale.
