KILL, Scott Joseph, 61, died at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK after a heroic four-year battle with cancer on June 23, 2023. Scott was born to Donald and Velma (Hempfling) Kill in Lima, Ohio on October 17, 1961. On September 22, 1992, he married Elizabeth Ann "Lisa" (McDow) Kill who preceded him in death. Scott was a 1980 graduate of Delphos St. Johns High School and went on to Northwestern Business College (UNOH) where he received his Associate of Marketing Degree. Scott started his Hobby Lobby career in 2003 as a store co-manager and over the course of 20 years, worked diligently to become a Vice President of Store Operations. He considered Hobby Lobby the culmination of his career. From 1984-1990, Scott was in the Navy as a Radioman First Class in the submarine service, where he acquired a special talent of learning morse code. Along with his parents, he is survived by his children, Jeremy (Rachel) Glasco of Kansas City, KS, and Emily Kill of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Antonio Terry, Sadie, Trinity and Keira "Andy" Glasco-White, and Rylee, Rudy, Raime, Robin, and Pamela Glasco; great-grandchildren, Colt and Forrest; siblings, Barbara Kill of San Antonio, TX, Dean Kill of Monroe, NC, Pamela Bianchi of Brunswick, OH, Douglas (Sharon) Kill of Wapakoneta, OH, Randy (Karen) Kill of Hebron, OH, and Andrew (Tisha) Kill of Gomer, OH; sisters-in-law, Brenda Skaggs of Oklahoma City, OK, and Belinda Frost of Norman, OK. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Harrison Kill; a daughter, Jaime Wood; step-mother, Alice Propst-Kill; a nephew, Bryan "Augie" Frost; and a brother-in-law, Gary Frost. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. Bill Hane will officiate. A burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society. Arrangements handled by Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. RIDINGS, Willey Hoyle, 88, died after a short illness on Thursday, June 8, 2023. "Butch" shared time with his son Skip in Havre de Grace, MD and his daughter Kelly in Lake Forest, CA, and had recently returned to Maryland for the spring and summer months. Willey was born to Tempie Elizabeth Burgess and Willey Judson Ridings in Inman, SC on January 10, 1935. He graduated from Inman High School in 1953 and played center on the varsity football team. Willey was a 20-year veteran of the United States Navy, having retired in January, 1973. His first rate in the Navy was as a signalman aboard the cruiser USS Saint Paul (CA-73). He joined the crew in July, 1956. In September, 1956, she became the flagship for the 1st Fleet. Willey graduated from the US Naval Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut. He served as a submariner on USS Blueback (SS-581) and USS Odax (SS-484). In April 1963, while the Blueback was in transit to Brisbane, Australia, he crossed the International Date Line at the Equator, and earned the title of Trusty Shellback, in accordance with the time-honored tradition of the US Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a dispatcher for harbor pilots in the ports of Los Angeles, CA and Norfolk, VA. Willey was an avid sports fan, and he was able to see his beloved Angels win the World Series in 2002. He attended Game 2 of the World Series at Angel Stadium with his daughter Kelly, where he saw the Angels win 11-10 in exciting fashion over the SF Giants. He was also a great horse racing fan and attended all three Triple Crown races at least once, and the Breeder's Cup races multiple times. He loved traveling and spending time with his family, especially at the Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. Willey was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna "Dee" Ridings, his sisters Hazel Wingo and Emily Morrow, and his brothers Ray Ridings and Carroll Ridings. He is survived by his son, Steven "Skip" Ridings, his daughter Kathrine "Kelly" Ridings, grandchildren Joseph C. Ridings, Judson R. Ridings, and Colleen M. Ridings; and sister-in-law Betty Ridings. Willey wished to have his ashes buried at Arlington National Cemetery. A memorial service with full military honors will be held there next year at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a veteran's charity of your choice.
