Hank Williams was an undisputedly American folk hero. Just one of the lines of his many lyrics in its simplicity: “The silence of a falling star lights up a purple sky and as I wonder where you are makes me so lonesome, I could cry” puts the man right up there with Will Shakespeare in my estimation.
Many bio-dramas never achieve the required effect but “I Saw the Light” was the rare exception. Starring British actor Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams showed great acting with a gift for playing the guitar and singing just like Hank. Check him out on the second link.

Have ;oved Hank for many years. What a shame what booze and dope can do to people regardless of talent. |

You can never go wrong by doing Hank Williams. Many world famous singers cut their teeth doing Hank Williams breaking into the industry.
Hank recorded a lot of songs under the name Luke the Drifter that his recording label wouldn't let him record using his real name.
Thanks Pedro!! |

Nice to meet fellow Hank Williams fans. Although he never made it to the UK, he had three maybe closer to four million fans over here at that time during his sadly short career. Accordingly, his show appearances were limited to the United States so we never got to see him live. Crisscrossing many cities and small towns across the continent must have been a sight to behold when he hit the stage. Here especially for you two gents Johnny Cash describes just such a night.
