At random: ENS Sam Hunter, the first submarine casualty of WWII on Dec. 8, 1941. He was attached to Sea Dragon moored next to Sealion. He was killed by shrapnel from the first bomb hit on Sealion penetrating the conning tower of Sea Dragon. The second hit killed 4 men in Sealions Engineroom.

I've often said I was the "last to know", "no one told me" and "hey you always went to the back of the line if you were a torpedoman, 'cause that's where they sent you anyway." I used to joke that if I had not heard the goat I would have never know the wedding had started. SO, just want to jump out there and wish EVERYONE (qual,skimmer and dink) a Happy 247th Birthday wish for OUR day. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. BZ boatsailors.
