He grew up in Astoria Queens. Not far from where I grew up in Astoria. Was a neighborhood icon who will be missed.

We moved to Astoria when I got out of the Navy in '64. We had a great apartment on 30th Ave and 14th St. Stayed nine years.

I was in the PCU for Woodrow Wilson at Mare Island in 1963. SF radios played that song five or sis times an hour all through the day and night.

Just due to sheer saturation, I can't stand it to this date.
