BARGMANN, David Alan, died in Cape Coral, FL on June 16, 2023, after a two-year battle with cancer. Born January 10, 1951, in Davenport, Iowa to Alvin O. and Edythe R. Bargmann, David graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1969. As a Vietnam veteran, David was proud of his service in the United States Navy and following submarine training, served on the USS Mariano G. Vallejo (SSBN-658) where his crew was commended by the Secretary of the Navy for meritorious service. David worked for Hillebrand Construction in Davenport. He worked for FedEx in the Chicago area and in Naples, Florida. David played tennis in high school and continued to play throughout his adult life. He enjoyed swimming, gardening, and traveling. Married in 1993, he is survived by his wife, Jan Bargmann of Cape Coral, FL, a sister, Janet Thompsen (Pete) of Waterloo, Iowa, nephews Bill Bargmann (Christina) and Tom Bargmann of Davenport along with a sister-in-law Kathy Bargmann, stepdaughter Danielle Paul (John) and grandchildren, Kathryn, Nathan, Chris and Colin.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Alvin, mother-in-law, Betty Eichenauer and stepdaughter, Suzanne Kain. A memorial visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday August 4th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Following visitation, graveside services with military honors presented by East Moline American Legion Post 227 will be 11:30 a.m. at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those wishing to join the procession to National Cemetery should meet at the funeral home by 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the humane society. LaVOGUE, George J., 76, of Columbiana, Ohio, has been uploaded to the almighty cloud while surrounded by his family, on Thursday July 27, 2023. George was born in Boardman, Ohio on April 4, 1947. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1965 and joined the US Navy in 1966. He was stationed on the submarines USS Grampus (SS-523) and USS John Marshall (SSBN-611) from 1965-1969 when he was honorably discharged. George returned to Ohio and went to work as a lineman for Ohio Bell in 1970 and stayed with them through their rock-star amount of name changes. George was the CWA Local 4300 president from 1996 to his retirement from Ameritech in 2002. George leaves behind his two daughters, Stephanie (James) Barbato and Niki (Raymond) Casselberry; a brother, Thomas (Marcy) LaVogue; a sister, Cynthia Wilson and two granddaughters, Madeline and Alison Barbato. George is once again united with his wife, Jeannette (Barry) LaVogue who he married in 1971; his parents, Chester LaVogue and Daisy (Sherratt) LaVogue; a sister, Susan Zalac and his daughter, Sherry LaVogue and all the navy buddies who have gone before, the next round is on him. Calling hours will be August 10, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with a small memorial to follow at Lane Family Funeral Home in Austintown, Ohio. In place of flowers please donate to American Legion Post #290 or your local American Legion.


THOMPSON, Curtis Lee, 68, died peacefully in Newport News, VA on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Born in Butler, on Jan. 30, 1955, he was a man known for his unwavering dedication to his country, family and friends. Curtis was a graduate of Moniteau High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1975, where he volunteered for submarine duty. After 27 years of honorable service, he retired as a senior chief petty officer in 2002. His dedication to his country extended into his civilian life, where he continued to serve with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Beyond his professional life, Curtis was an active member of his community. He was a devoted member of the Next Level Church, US Submarine Veterans Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Curtis was a familiar face at St. George's Brewery and enjoyed playing cards at the Villas on Shady Banks. He relished going on frequent Caribbean cruises with his wife, Marilyn. Curtis is survived by his wife, Marilyn Marie Sharp Thompson; his son, Joshua (Jessica) Thompson, of Yorktown; his mother, Florence I. Stone Thompson; his sisters, Cheryl (Tom) Cherry, of Freeport, and Terri (Rick) Wagner of West Sunbury; brothers, Bret (Melissa) Thompson, of Huntsville, Texas, Vernon (Linda) Thompson, of West Sunbury, and Neal (Bobby) Thompson, of Wesley Chapel, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Thompson, and his brothers, Darryl and Keith. We take comfort in knowing his life was filled with purpose, service and love. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 210 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Va. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate the life of Curtis. TRUZCIENSKI, Thomas J., 76, died in the loving care of The Lord on Sunday on July 10, 2023. His sister Theresa was by his side. Born in Wilmington, DE, Tom was a graduate of Salesianum High School. He was a veteran who spent 20 years in the Navy. He traveled the world and saw many countries, he especially loved Italy and Japan. Tom received 8 medals during his naval career for his excellence. He was a well-respected nuclear engineer on the submarine and was offered a job as a professor at Waukegan College after retirement. He taught there for 10 years and went on to be an engineer for the Chicago railroad. Tom lived in Waukegan for 40 years, his sister Theresa begged for his return to Delaware. Last year Tom finally came back. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Sigmund and Julia; his two sisters Mary and Jean; and two brothers Richard and Alan. Tom is survived by his two sisters Theresa Casey and Anne Witt (Jeff) and brother Charles. Tom will be remembered by his constant phone calls, calling until you answered. He would fill up your answering machine and voicemail every other day. His family loved him dearly and he will be sorely missed. Burial at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery to be announced.
