At random: "THAT'S NICE THAT THE ELECTRICIAN AND A-GANGERS WORKED ALL NIGHT TO GET THE DIESEL GENERATOR READY, BUT WE'RE NOT GETTING UNDERWAY UNTIL EVERY TOASTER IN THE WARDROOM PANTRY IS WORKING" quoted during Tautog's DustPac '85-86 Deployment

HATFIELD William F. Hatfield (Bill) August 15, 1948 - August 31, 2023 Bill entered eternity with the Lord on August 31 at age 75. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Bill was born in “Soddy” where he met and married the love of his life, Bev, at her parents’ restaurant on the lake while he was on leave from the Navy. Bill proudly served our country in the Navy as a submariner (bubblehead) on the USS Simon Bolivar (nuclear submarine) and the USS Amberjack (diesel submarine). Bill and Bev are lifelong residents of Soddy Daisy and together 53 years. Bill retired from Alstom (Combustion). Bill is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Parker Hatfield; daughter Gina Hatfield Bradley and her husband, Jason; son Terry Holloway, Jr and his wife, Brittany; grand-daughters Christina and Sarahbeth Bradley (who both loved him a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck); Ryan Beihoffer (who he considered family); brother Clifford Hatfield and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his beloved daughter Christy; mother Norma Daughtrey Hatfield; sister Linda Grant; brother Ronnie; and dog Maggie Mae. There are just no words to describe how much his family loves and will miss him. He was the rock of the family—a loving husband, daddy, papaw, papa, brother, and friend. Bill was kind, gentle, patient, and wise. He was a hard worker and could fix anything. He was selfless and would help anyone in need. He was a giver, not a taker. He loved God, loved family, and loved others. He devoted his time and his heart to his family daily. He was a man who never complained and was thankful for everything. He was a simple man who appreciated the simple things of life. He enjoyed nature, a good storm, the moon and the stars, sunsets and sunrises, and birdwatching. To sum it up, he was a GOOD MAN. As Bill told us, “Don’t say goodbye, but say see you later”. And we will. There will be no services per Bill’s wishes. The family is requesting donations in his honor to St Jude in lieu of flowers.
