For the life of me I cannot understand why so many Navy CO's are being fired the past few years. It is not like we have a huge pool of qualified Submarine CO's available for replacements, or do we? I know personnel issues are supposed to be confidential, but does anyone have a guess at the most common reason this is happening so frequently? If an officer is so unqualified for command, why would that not be apparent while he was XO or Div. Officer?
