SPENCER .. .. William E. “Bill” Spencer Sr, 73, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was a retired Chief Petty Officer Torpedoman for the US Navy, having served on submarines during the Vietnam era. He later retired as a Regional Administrator for the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, where he helped thousands of veterans during his career. Bill was a member of the American Legion and the Floyd County Coon Hunters Club, and he was Catholic by faith. He was an avid muscle car enthusiast, loved to build and race radio-controlled cars and was a skilled gunsmith.He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy Cataluna Spencer; son, Will Spencer Jr.; daughter, Jodie Spencer; sisters, Marilyn Miller (Ronnie), Margie Stump and Phyllis Caskey (Jim).
Bill’s funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy (Louisville), followed by burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central (Radcliff). Visitation was held from noon — 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 and after 10 a.m. the day of the funeral.

LAMAIRE .. .. Phillip Alton LaMaire, Age 79, passed away November 13, 2023.
He was born on October 3, 1944, in Jackson, Michigan to Arthur and Norma (Simonds) LaMaire. Phillip married the love of his life, Sue, on September 11, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He will be remembered as a proud Navy Veteran. Phillip spent 2 years in the Navy, stationed on a nuclear submarine. He was even sent to the Russian coast during the Cold War. After Phillip left the Navy, he became a commercial long haul truck driver. Once he met Sue, she traveled with him all over the country. When Phillip wasn't on the road, you could find him piddling around in his garage working on cars. However, he loved to go to thrift stores and garage sales. Phillip would always say "one person's junk is another person's treasure!"
Phillip will be missed by his beloved wife, Sue; his children, Phillip (Tammy) LaMaire, Brian (Diana) Cummer, Scott (Kristin) LaMaire, Ara LaMaire, Amber LaMaire, Tracy LaMaire. Siblings, Charles "Chuck" LaMaire and Sherrie Tiffany, 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

LINDEMANN .. .. Jerry Berthold Lindemann was born to Edward and Esther (Hoff) Lindemann on Feb.8, 1947 in Eureka,SD. He attended elementary school in a one room school house about a mile from his farm. He would meet cousins on the walk and they'd all go together. He boarded with family in Eureka for the first 2 years of high school and then was bussed to Polluck High School for 2 years.
Graduated from Pollock in 1965 and joined the US NAVY. After boot camp in San Diego CA he picked the submarine service as his choice field. He said they said more pay and better food and thought that's for me!! He attended sub school in Groton CT and then was aboard his first sub. A diesel boat out of Key West FL the USS Chopper 342. Went through many various Navy schools and eventually was an instructor at the sub school in Groton CT. He also spent time aboard the Fleet Ballistic Missle sub the USS Lewis and Clark 644 and commissioned the fast attack submarine the USS Guitarro 665. Spent 10 yrs in the active Navy and 18 1/2 yrs in the Reserves retiring in 1993 as a Senior Chief. In civilian life he worked as a service tech fixing computerized business telephone systems. He also became an instructor in that field too.
Jerry met his wife in 1968 on a Grey Hound Bus in Sioux Falls SD when they were both were traveling home. They dated the 2 wks he was home and 1 week in April on her visit to him in Charleston SC. They were married on July 21, 1968 when he returned from sea patrol.
He loved hunting, fishing, and working on cars. Also loved to dance! In later years he loved to traveling in his motorhome with his wife and especially when he could take the grandkids with him.
He is survived by his wife Rocky of 55yrs, 2 children Chet (Danielle) Lindemann and Melissa (Keith) Fields, 5 grandchildren Chas (Bri) Fields, Dylan (Aniyah) Fields, Kaitlyn (Anwar) Fields, Tristan and Tenley Lindemann. He was proceeded in death by his parents, an infant brother Wayne, an infant son Michael, and an infant granddaughter Tava Lindemann.

MYERS .. .. Blaine, Washington - Mike was born into a military family, moved often and attended many schools. One location was near Pearl Harbor at the time Japan attacked. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1954 and was assigned Ensign aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet. He then attended submarine school in New London, CT after which he was assigned as Lieutenant aboard the submarine, USS Pomodon. While on assignment in San Diego, Mike met and married (1959) Phyllis Ann Genson. They had 3 children. He continued serving on subs until 1968 and was then stationed in Vallejo, CA. He later transferred to Bremerton, WA and served his last year at Sandpoint Naval Air Station in Seattle. He retired in 1974 as a Lieutenant Commander
After the Navy, Mike worked as a flight instructor before joining Boeing-Everett as a Design Engineer. He later met and married (1990) Carol Huff Flagg, "the light of his life," who predeceased him in 2017. He always talked about her. Avid boaters, they lived on houseboats in Lake Union until moving to Semiahmoo in 1994 where they continued sailing their beloved "MiCa."
Mike enjoyed being active in community affairs serving both as a council member for 6 years and as Mayor of Blaine in 2008. He enjoyed people too and was active in various clubs at Semiahmoo. Volunteering was a civic duty to Mike.
He was a Renaissance man: Soccer player, coach, and referee, Skier, Marksman, hobbyist for model trains, planes, and ships. Art collector. Have camera will travel photographer. A voracious reader of history and novels. Octoberfest enthusiast.
He had a wicked sense of humor, could recite poetry from memory, and often declared at dinner "that was the best meal I ever had!" This was a philosophy for Mike as was his practice of handing out compliments to everyone. He often spoke German when meeting people for the surprise and the smiles it generated.
Mike is survived by a Son Eric Myers, Daughter Charlotte Myers, Daughter Kristen Myers and Kristen's two children, son James, father to Great Grandchildren Wesley and Georgia- and son Rory Deen. Mike is also survived by Carol's Children including Kathryn Lee, Terri Ann Varner and her children Jack and Hope, Karri Lee Forde (deceased) and her children Jonathan and Stuart, Forrest A. Huff and his children Andie and Grant.
His Brother Robert Myers and his children Jean, Tom and Jim also survive him. Like their father Horace Myers, Robert was also a Naval Academy graduate.

BUTLER .. .. David A. Butler, age 79, of Acton, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Life Care Center of Littleton.  He was the husband of 55 years to Ethel (Sawtell) Butler.
David Arthur Butler was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on June 8, 1944, the son of the late Arthur S. and Irene (Yurtin) Butler.  David graduated from Stratford High School and, in 1967, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era.  He was deployed four times over two years on the USS John Marshall Submarine. He was honorably discharged in 1970. David continued in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 25 years, retiring as Captain.
David and Ethel married on December 16, 1967, in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and soon made their home in Acton, where he was involved in coaching youth soccer, youth basketball, and youth baseball and served as treasurer for ten years for the AB Youth Soccer program.  He also served on the Town of Acton Finance Committee and Water Supply District.
David graduated from Boston University, earning a Bachelor of Science and a master’s degree in finance.  He began a long and distinguished career as Chief Financial Officer for several companies, including Sequoia System and Biopure Corporation.
Family was the center of his life; David enjoyed holidays, birthdays, and many other celebrations and milestones.  David was also an avid fly fisherman, where he found peace and solace regularly with his son and grandson.
Along with his wife Ethel, he is survived by his children, Katharine Nesta and husband Craig of Newton, Jonathan Butler and wife Trinidad of Acton, Andrew Butler and his fiancé Ashley Carter of Concord, and Hillary Lindquist and husband Michael of Brunswick, MD.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Spencer Nesta, Elisabeth Nesta, Emma Butler, Adelaide Butler, Hayden, Ruth, Gwyneth, Nash Butler and Lucy Lindquist.
Services for Captain David A. Butler will be held in the spring of 2024 at a date, time, and location to be announced.  Burial with U.S. Navy Military Honors at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Acton, Massachusetts, will be private.
