At random: The first periscope used by the United States Navy was not built for a submarine. The ironclad monitor OSAGE utilized a periscope to discover a Confederate cavalry unit taking cover behind the high banks of the Red River in Arkansas.

Here are wishes for a Very Happy Thanksgiving to the brotherhood, veterans and currently serving members of our Armed Forces. I was at sea a few times over Thanksgiving and I must say our stew burners turned out some of the best there was. Couldn't beat home turkey with all the fixins but it was a great substitute. Make the best of tomorrow and forget the waistline. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
