At random: The Grampus and Pike were commissioned in ceremonies at Mare Island the same day, Thursday, the 28th of May 1903. A young naval officer, Lieutenant Arthur MacArthur III, older brother of General Douglas MacArthur, assumed command for both vessels at the same time.

I just heard Jennifer Griffin, Fox News, while reporting on the retaliatory strikes the U.S. has launched mentioned that USS Florida was in the region and she carries 150 Tomahawk missiles. I was skeptical for I looked it up. ComSubLant's web page says the number is actually 154. Remebering the Tomahawk, 21 in dia by 20 feet long, where do they put them. I mean even the 569 had a pretty good arsenal but 154. These ain't OBA canisters. I'm amazed.

I don't know about you, but I for one do not see the wisdom of revealing the Florida's presence. Allow those 154 to be a surprise for someone.

USS Florida is a former SSBN with 24 missile tubes.

It was converted to an SSGN; the Tomahawks are nested on some kind of rack in the missile tubes.
