I emailed the editor of the San Diego paper that put the Hampton in a Destroyer squadron. He answered me with a very nice apology:

I don't like getting hollered at any better than anyone else, but if it's a mistake I've got it coming. I'd been writing about the destroyer squadron the day before and, working too fast, wrote the wrong thing. I was focusing closely on nailing the nuclear reactor details, which were unfamiliar to me -- so much, that I missed a really obvious mistake. (So did at east three editors.) The problem is, those "little" mistakes are the worst ones because they make readers ask exactly the same question you did. The paper does take them seriously. My editor and I came up with an action plan to try to prevent similar ones in the future.

and where did you get that idea from...you have on, more than one occasion, made plenty of sense...and sometimes out of a "senseless" bit of dribble...not that anyone on here, besides yours truly posts dribble...
but what do you want from "one" who's floors don't exactly go up to 13!
