Had a photo on my PigBoats.COM page for a bit that shows two R boats moored to a submerged pier.

My co-contributor Dave Johnston was poking around the Sub Force Museum the other day and came up with an answer.

When I was growing up in Mass. there were no "big" storms 'cause all the geezers (including my old man) would would start talking about the Hurricane of '38. From what I could gather the storm surge up the Taunton River was in the neighborhood of 20' with some adjustment for the BS factor.

The thing that intrigues me to this day was how they delt with the Hurricanes and Nor Easters without any advanced warning that it was going to be a larger than average storm.

Here is a Wikipedia statement:
The hurricane was similar to the New England Hurricane of 1938. Both Carol and the 1938 hurricane struck New England as a fast-moving Category 3 hurricane. The two hurricanes hit within 40 miles of each other at high tide, and as a result produced a severe storm surge.[1] At the time, Carol was among the costliest United States hurricanes, and adjusted for inflation it remains the 22nd costliest U.S. hurricane (as of 2006).[2]
I remember being in Massachusetts during 1954 Hurricane Carol. My folks kept saying "it's not as bad back in 38."
My parents were married in RI less than two weeks before the storm of 38.
So now the question is, are there any photographs taken in New London during 54 Hurricane Carol?
