Subject: Making Money Hand Over Fist/Origin Of The Term

It was a term that was used by the ancient Goths who made their coins from sheets of silver. They used a punch, hammer and die. The punch was struck with the hammer to form a round coin then the die was struck with a hammer to form the impression on the coin blank. The die was held in the fist and struck by the hammer held in the hand. Thus the term "making money hand over fist". Heard it on the History Channel.
