Subject: Obit Messenger results for 03/20/08

BARNER, Dewey "Red", 79, passed away in Klamath Falls, OR., on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. Dewey was born on February 25, 1929, in Big Springs, Texas, to Alvie and Rosa Dawkins. He grew up in Baird, Texas, where he graduated high school. Following that, Dewey entered the US Navy and served in submarine service for four years. He later served briefly in the US Air Force as a flight instructor. Upon discharge, Dewey attended college and became a commercial pilot. He flew cargo for various airlines and later flew tankers for the Forest Service for 18 years. Dewey like spending time in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also liked spending time with his companion Maxine and his dogs. Survivors include his companion Maxine Wescom of Keno and his sons Richard Barner of Henderson, NV, and Robert Barner of Garden Grove, CA. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Barner. At his request, no ceremony will be held. Cremation was held at Eternal Hills Crematory. Eternal Hills Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.


BROAD, Robert Eugene, 38, of Danielson, CT, passed away unexpectedly at home March 17, 2008. He was the son of Norman W. Broad, Jr. and Norma (Hopkins) Broad. He served in the Navy for 16 years in the Submarine Service. He was employed by IM Corp. of Storrs, CT. as project manager. He also worked as a sales manager at Firestone of New London. Rob loved to cook gourmet food. He handcrafted guitars and was in the process of building an incredible chopper motorcycle. He also played a mean blues guitar for family and friends. He had a passion for the big old cars from the 60's and 70's. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Surviving him are two brothers Norman W. Broad III of Danielson, CT and Douglas A. Broad and his wife Kim of Sterling, CT. He is also survived by one sister Kymberly A. Thompson and her husband Brian of Plainfield, CT. He was the brother of the late William D. Broad. He also leaves two nephews Ryan and Ian Broad and a nice Phoebe Thompson. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the Winfield and Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Rte. 116, North Scituate, RI. Family and friends are invited to calling hours preceding the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
