At random: Traditionally, United States submarines have been named after fish and other marine creatures. One exception was the Navy's first submarine HOLLAND which was named after its inventor, John Philip Holland. Today, ballistic missile submarines are named for famous American patriots, with the newest class, the OHIO class, named after states. The LOS ANGELES class of attack submarines are named for United States cities. The nations news class of submarine, the Virginia class, is also named for US States, making them the capital ships of the navy.

Does anyone have a good resolution file of silver dolphins they would email to me? I need something to give to a sign company that they can use in making a sign for me. The image will probably end up being about 12" or so wide. My email is jbaugh@tcworks.net.
Thanks,
Sammy

Gotcha covered! I gotta get back to my other 'puter, but I have one I created for exactly that purpose and it worked out well for that size. Give me a day or so. The mail will have 'Dolphin insignia' as the subject and come from 'gr8flbob -at- msn -dot- com'

I'd also be interested in a good hi resolution set of Dolphins.

At only 12K in image size, it'll be pixilated when blown up to 12" or more. Send me your email addy and I'll reply with a hi res version of the same dolphins (well, actuall a digital photo I took of an 18" set of resin dolphins I aquired from Rontini when he offered them a couple of years ago).

Thanks to everyone who responded. I don't know the technicals of "formats" but I got a couple kinds so that should make the sign folks happy.

Well the printer says they can't use the files in the formats you guys were good enough to send. They say they need .EPS or .PDF format. Does anyone have dolphins in that format they could send?

I will see if I have or can get it for you. The two types they want are vector format files, and can been done with COREL Draw or Adobe Illustrator to name a few. I am pretty sure I don't have it readily availiable but will check with the people who made some of my "trinkets" and see if they will sell it to me or if I can figure out my Corel Draw enough to do it

Bob suspect the eps might work better for the printer they always seem to prefer that when I am doing things

Thanks Bear! I sent him a .eps version too. Amazing what differences the different formats have in file size. I think my oringinal .jpg version was something like 1.5Mb. the .pdf version was 500something Kb ... and the .eps version was ...
16+ MB!
