At random: In World War II the Germans lost 782 submarines, the Japanese lost 130, Great Britan and Commonwealth countries lost 88 subs, Russia lost 110 submarines and the United States lost only 52 submarines. Twenty-three of the Japanese subs lost were victims of the American Submarine Service.

You can do this, RR!
1. mouse over the image and right-click
2. select 'Save image as ...' from the list of options
3. in the pop-up window make sure the destination is Desktop, to make it easy to find, and hit Save
4. at this site click on Control Panel in the upper right of the page
5. over on the right side you'll see a box labeled 'Upload profile image:' ... select 'Browse
6. in the pop-up window navigate to your desktop (hopefully it'll already be there by default) and click on  the 'Montana Hooker' file , then mouse down and hit the Save button
7. the pop-up will close and you'll be back to the control panel ... hit the 'Go' button
8. your sheep pic will show
9. final step - go to the bottom of the control panel page and select 'Submit'

Your new avatar will appear on ALL your posts, even the old one.

It's not as complicated as it appears above - just print out this post and use it for a guide. I followed my own instructions above and (temporarily) I will be the sheep.

You can do this,

Hey Billy Bob:
When I get to this part, (no on the sheep, but on my own selected picture,) ...

7. the pop-up will close and you'll be back to the control panel ... hit the 'Go' button

I get a red message saying that the photo is too big, and to select a smaller one.

How do I make the selected photo smaller?

Patti Lynn,
After close (very close) inspection (with a magnifying glass) it would seem that your "Party Sheep" is lacking in that special place! I mean it seems to be non-gendered, un-sexed, ain't got no coozy.. know what I mean?

I get a red message saying that the photo is too big, and to select a smaller one. How do I make the selected photo smaller?

Jr, I composed a response outlining options for reducing image sizes yesterday ... and just before I was ready to hit the post 'submit' button I fumbled some just-wrong combination of keys and everything I had typed went  'poof' into a cyber black hole. It was close to din-din time and I went and poured a stiff one in frustration.

So here we are at the end of another long day, and I just can't work it up to do it again. BUT!!

If you send me via email the image you want to turn into an avatar, I will process it into a small enough file that the BBS will swallow it. i will then send it back to you and you can follow the directions provided above to activate it.

I'll be traveling so will only be checking mail intermittently over the next 5 days ... but I DO have your six!
