At random: "No one has done more to prevent conflict - no one has made a greater sacrifice for the cause for Peace - than you, America's proud missile submarine family. You stand tall among our heroes of the Cold War.” -- Gen. Colin Powell

There are kind people in this world...they pick up and bring home stray kittens...they pay for cups of coffee for old fixed income people and leave big tips for single mom waitresses....they buy Girl Scout cookies the doctor won't let them eat...and they help women change tires on the side of a busy highway. We all know them and their influence in our lives makes transiting this life far better than it would have been otherwise. Recently Robert H. Parker aka "Flapper" contacted me by e-mail and told me that he had found the perfect Avitar for me. Not knowing what an Avitar was, and secretly hoping that it was a new medication that could solve erectile disfunction in thirty seconds and make you look like Gary Cooper at the same time...I was very excited. What he was referring to was that photo of me...or actually my DNA verified first cousin...Salty Sam Halfhitch. So he sent me a set of instructions as to how to transfer the photo image to some cyber cubby hole where it would hop out coo-coo clock fashion and attach itself to each post I made.....Folks, when you're dumber than tender MAA and your knowledge of computer science is on par with old ladies and skydiving....Making Avitars do anything is damn near impossible....I loved the idea but I stood about as much of a chance of getting that damn thing up on Gentry's magic cyber-go-round as I did performing an organ transplant on your parakeet. Flapper, God Bless him formed a criminal conspiracy with Don G. and they performed the required mumbo-jumbo and bingo, that nasty looking old rollicking jaybird began appearing regularly....Since Flapper brought him on board he's had sex three times with that old bear in case you'er wondering why that lady bear's tongue started hanging out. I love the image...it suits me....But better still I deeply appreciate the thought behind it and the unsolicited kindness. Roy Ator sends me "HOW TO" e-mails....At Roy's age he's not supposed to know all that stuff about computers...He's supposed to be figuring out how old people get in medicine packages, DVD's....work cell phones.....and get support stockings and incontinence bloomers off female senior citizens. I get lost right after the "enter the diathermic frapazoid...press the dingus key...push the middle valve down and the music goes round and round..." Don't let Beeghly fool you he's got a rented monkey that does all that stuff for him. He also subscribes to all the GIRLS GONE WILD videos....Like right now he's waiting of the Amish edition of GIRLS GONE WILD. Seriously, Flappers OK....and Salty Sam says that lady bear is fantastic. I was wondering through the photo archives at the Navy History site ( http://history.navy.mil/photos/ ) and discovered the picture below. Recently, Dex admired another poster's avatar, and -realizing Dex didn't have one of his own, the memory of teh shot below immediately came to mind! If Dex had an alter ego, the old salt leading the youngster to perdition (probably escorting him to Bell's Tavern and Naval Tailoring Emporium) would have to fill the bill. The rest is history. (And thanks for the kind words, Dexter, I'm blushing ... but I was simply 'paying it forward' in compensation for the unsolicited kindnesses you yourself have done for others.)

Re: Amish edition of Girls gone wild.

The wildest thing you would see in that magazine would be a teen age Amish girl walking home from town and accepting a ride home in an automobile with a Catholic Priest.

Well Dex, I for one love it! I can see you (in your earlier years of course) back in the days of "rocks and shoals", casting a critical eye across the deck for any "gear adrift", insuring the "Seaman gang" had properly stowed everything in preparation for going to sea... I can see all that in the "Old Salt's" eyes... Everything is 'right' in his world... It's perfect... and to discover that it was a 'gift' makes it even better... Now if Billy Bob could just hook that sweet sheep in the high heels on to my ramblings I'd be in heaven too!

I looked long and hard at that device on the salty old dog's breast.  Is that a MAA's badge...?  What is it...?

Then it dawned on me...

Thanks for those photos Billy Bob....Dex, always talks about being an E3, well the photos with the E1 stripe shows him to be the social climbing E1 that he was/is/always will be. Dex, in the age of photo enhancement ya shouldda added 2 stripes to the one that is already there. An E3's mentality in an E1's body. Alas, alack, deception in the ranks.....
