At random: The USS SKATE (SSN 578) was the first vessel ever to surface at the North Pole, when on March 17, 1959 she surfaced there to conduct memorial services for the renowned Arctic explorer Sir Hubert Wilkins.

Subject: Maritime Museum

I am trying to establish a maritime museum in Sacramento, CA. I am hoping to include a nuke sub in the museum. If anyone is interested in being a part of this project, please let me know. This is NOT a solicitation for funds. I was on Bonefish and Blueback and I just want to give my fellow bubbleheads the opportunity to help out and use their Sub expertise. My plan is to honor veterans from Vietnam up until today and onward.
