At random: The USS Cusk was only one of four US submarines to ever receive the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation - Gallantry for her service in Vietnam. Cusk, was awarded seven awards during 1965, 1967, 1968, and 1969,The other three boats were the USS Sculpin (SSN-590), the USS Razorback (SS-394), two awards during 1967 and 1969, and the USS Ronquil (SS-396), two awards during 1966-67 and 1968.

Subject: Attended monthly Chesapeake Base meeting

I attended the April USSVI meeting of Chesapeake Base. Very light turnout...mostly WWII SubVets and wives (Wives, to include widows) equalled or may possibly exceeded Vet attendance. They held their meeting in a Greek resaurant named HELLAS in Millersville, Maryland, GREAT FOOD...Great company. Coming home I reflected on how much the company of submarine veterans and their lovely wives has meant to me since I was first invited to join many years ago. Capt. Art Rawson USN (ret) attended and the old rascal is like that TIMEX commercial...He continues to "take a lickin; and keep on tickin'" Today was like skinny dipping in the fountain of youth. DEX
