MARSH, Alonzo Jimmy, 70, passed to his eternal rest on April 19, 2008. ``Jim'' was born November 21, 1937, in Ozark, Alabama. Mr. Marsh served in the United States Navy as a submarine sailor for 23 years. He was a member of the Gideon's International. Mr. Marsh worked construction for many years until cancer attacked his body in 2006. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Lila Gaylor Marsh; his children, James Marsh (Lisa) of Dawsonville, GA, Carmen Young (Wayne) of Grand Bay, AL, Tracy White (Stan) of Mobile, AL, Damon Marsh (Rebecca) of Dawsonville, GA; step-daughter, Lori Murphy (Darrin) of Grand Bay, AL; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Austin, Jonathan (Jennifer), Alicia (Jeremy), Brittnie, Brandon, Matthew, Joseph, Damon, Morgan, Jeffrey, Sierra and Kaylie; one great-grandchild, Mackenzie. He left to cherish his memory, siblings, Peggy McTaggert (Raymond) of Acworth, Georgia, Robert Marsh (Patsy) of Ariton, AL, Sandra Coste (Johnny) of Ozark, AL, Taylor Marsh of Acworth, GA and Jerry Marsh of Ozark, AL. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alonzo Marsh and Ruth Davis Marsh; one brother, Kenneth Marsh. Mr. Marsh served as a foster dad to many wonderful children. With deepest appreciation the Marsh family wishes to recognize the exceptional friends and caregivers who help support and maintain Mr. Marsh's illness in it's last stages; Aseracare Hospice staff and nurses, all the amazing doctors in charge of his care and longtime friend Jeter Brock. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. John United Methodist Church, Mobile, AL or to Coffeeville United Methodist Church, AL or to your favorite charity. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 12 noon. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
