At random: Among the 'first' that Electric Boat Division has introduced into American submarines, have been the marine Diesel engine, the perfected use of the storage battery, the combination of battery and internal combustion engine, and the world's first adaptation of nuclear energy to propulsion in the USS NAUTILUS.

I received the USSVWWII grave marker for my grandfather's grave today. I am so happy that I finally tracked one down.

I wanted to thank the USSVI Groton Base for taking over the sale of these markers sometime in 2005 from the USSVWWII Thames River Chapter. Ed Childs, USSVI Groton Base Memorial Committee chairman, was quick to respond to my inquiry about getting one of these markers.

I'm so thankful to have one of these to place on my grandfather's grave! It should have been done 10 years ago.

Good show, Snake!
Somewhere, he's wearing that 'victory grin' and giving you a thumbs-up for taking care of biz.

I surely hope so. I just hate that it wasn't done over 11 years ago.

He passed away April 23, 1997.
