At random: USS TRITON, the only American made twin reactor submarine ever built, on May 10, 1960, completed the first totally submerged non-trivial circumnavigation of the world when she followed the route of Ferdinand Magellan for 36,000 miles during 84 days beneath the surface.

Cora made a comment about what some thought was a tough riddle. This is the toughest one I ever solved. It took me 4 hours and I drew a matrix to solve it, but according to old Albert - that was good enough.
IF you figure it out PLEASE DO NOT post the answer. Let others enjoy the challenge. Just email me your answer and I'll post or reply whether you are right.

Einstein's Riddle
ALBERT EINSTEIN'S RIDDLE

ARE YOU IN THE TOP 2% OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE IN THE WORLD? SOLVE THE RIDDLE AND FIND OUT.

There are no tricks, just pure logic, so good luck and don't give up.

1. In a street there are five houses, painted five different colours.
2. In each house lives a person of different nationality
3. These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.

THE QUESTION: WHO OWNS THE FISH?

HINTS

1. The Brit lives in a red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbour who drinks water.

ALBERT EINSTEIN WROTE THIS RIDDLE EARLY DURING THE 19th CENTURY. HE SAID THAT 98% OF THE WORLD POPULATION WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SOLVE IT.

if you like this sort of puzzle, google kaser software and download sherlock. You will get a free download of that game (limited number of puzzles and a bunch more.) Most all logic puzzles with various levels which will keep you busy (whoops, which will keep people with critical thinking skills busy) for quite a while. I'm not sure what to tell the libs....maybe some of them can handle it.....go for it................

Hell, I was twenty-eight before I figured out that "I was going to St. Ives and met a man with twenty wives...." You know that wives, cats, sacks of rats or whatever in the hell it was. Who thinks that kind of stuff up? WHY? Can you imagine what kind of a life they have? Do you realize that while that fellow was multiplying cat legs and dividing them with backpacks...then multiplying them by his zip code,....subtracting his Aunt Tillies social security number....then adding a mean average of alligator teeth and the square root of your tire pressure....While the idiot was doing all that...He could have been having a nooner with a Waffle Hiouse waitress? He could not have written it early in the 19th century as he was born in 1879. Died in 1955.

Exactly what I was doing whilst he was working that out! Some of us know how to use our time wisely!

Besides I worked it out in approximately 5 minutes....it quite easy really, trust me.

I must really be losing it. I can't remember commenting on Miss Lumpy Bumps' riddle. Of course, anything's possible. Enlighten me.

Erase, erase, erase. I put up a subject title, and it got away from me, and bounced up - not once, but twice.

Ah, well.

That part was copied within the text from the website. Not my claim.

Depends on whether I 'got' to you or not, eh? (Yeah, I know: 'Can't get to me ... I'll kill you first.')
Actually, it's just fat fingers on a Notebook keypad.
That said, you've validated my point, my man!

I'm sorry I rubbed you the wrong way. That was never my intention. The way I read you posts I guess I assumed you had a similar sense of humor to mine.Evidently I was wrong.I'll say it again......I'm sorry you took my comments in a way that I didn't think they would be taken.

I DO have the same sense of humor, 609. Relax, you haven't rubbed me the wrong way ... just having fun trading pings is all. If I annoyed YOU, then my apologies.
Let's hit the beach, and I'll buy you a brew.

BB - Thanks for the cudos, but obviously you don't really know me! I answered the question in about ten minutes by doing some research on-line! I haven't used a vietch diagram since "B"-School and hope never to have to again! (And probably won't now that the internet is available to idiots like me!)

I have to agree with Dex, sitting around counting immigrants, decyphering various names of English tobbaconists, visulizing houses neatly arranged in rows, painted in primary colors, each with some rare and most likely endangered animal in residence, while consuming a wide variety of alcoholic beverages is a far greater challenge than I wish to face most days...

I prefer to spend my summer days diggin' clams and my winter ones chasin' snowshoe hares...
