At random: "The Turkish skipper of ex-USS Tang, when asked about the difference between the German designed and built replacement boats for their retiring ex-US boats, is reported to have said, "American submarines are built for war, German submarines are built for export."

Hey I thought I would post pictures from the two newest contacts at my flickr group the first one is from a shipmate that served on the Boston (the second is from a group of photos taken at Orange County, I could swear I was there that day)

Sorry they got reversed on uploading

And the messdecks picture looked like Aspro's Mess decks on a bad day (cleaning refer for example)

That second photo sure looks like the old days of Shellback initiation. Can't be Bluenose as there's no baby in a diaper. I see the recipe hasn't changed. hard to tell if there's hot sauce and liquid smoke in the pot.

I was trying to remember when. The guy that drove Gas Ronda flipped it at Lions sometime in the 1966 era, he was decapatated by the guard rail. Real bad!

Hey Bear,
That sure is the Aspro mess decks during Shellback initiations. That looks like me on the left, Jimmy Herr (MM2(SS)/A-Gang) trying the savory cuisine, and Jim Stinson (MM1(SS)/A-Gang on the right.

Best Regards,
Buff
