(1) Does the Submarine Base, New London (sub school etal) have a stand alone library?  (2) Also, do any of you wish to sponsor war patrol reports for the USSVI Library (individually or collectively)?

Doc, obviously going it alone is more expensive, however (and with that said), several plus guys going in together would make it fairly painless and you would still get the individual share of recognition, tax relief, thank you's (etal).  The "public" pricing we advertise is at http://www.usssealion.com/NSL/war_patrols.htm - but we are giving a 20% discount to our own guys (if that's not too much math for you, if so, take off your cast and count toes also - tee hee!))...

Try to get some of these silent guys to pony up to the bar - speaking of which, the offer is good for a single malt at the next come together (in your case!), open to others...

John,

I checked with Chief Munhall, Base CMDR of Groton SubVets and he said SBNL has their own library.

The Nautilus Museum already has a full set of the WWII War Patrols (in .jpg) thanks to our mentor, Vice Admiral Roger Bacon USN Ret. - but - their (active duty) Commander in charge wanted me to give him a set in .pdf in order for him to publish "our copyrighted media" on the internet.  To say the least, I think the Admiral set him straight.

ANYHOW, the Subase library "IS" a different entity and should have their own set for those young minds over there who would then be able to read our history.  Doc Gardner, Sean Keck and possibly a couple of others are pretty much on board with this effort.  If we can get, say, 10 guys at $25 each, or 5 at $50 each, we can make this donation happen - ANYONE who is interested in this project, either send me an email with your donation amount or post it here if you wish... Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Chief; put me in for $50.00; all this money I'm saving in gas because of this "flat tire" I'm lugging around I can contribute some to a good cause.

O.K. Folks, here's the final list for sponsors of the WWII U.S. Submarine War Patrol Reports donation to the New London, Submarine Base Library, they are; John (Gary) & Patti Lynn, Fred (Doc) & Pat Gardner and Sean Keck & Genelle - these folks will, from hereon out, be known as sponsors of this gift to our young sailors reading of their past submarine history.  Thank you all for leaving our legacy to these future boat sailors!

You missed someone John. You and your associates. If you are covering the shortage then you are also a donor.

Thanks for your comment Sean.  We always value the giving of these reports to what would be considered important entities.  We have given out free reports to all of our WWII sub vets (or immediate families) when asked (over 200 thus far).  I have also been giving out one set a month to one of our submarines stationed here at Bangor via our NSL meetings directly to the C.O.'s (3 sets so far).
