At random: Among the 'first' that Electric Boat Division has introduced into American submarines, have been the marine Diesel engine, the perfected use of the storage battery, the combination of battery and internal combustion engine, and the world's first adaptation of nuclear energy to propulsion in the USS NAUTILUS.

Unbelievable! We are having a good old-fashioned blizzard!

My windows are pasted solid with snow. I cannot see outside. When I opened my front door (which is recessed between house and garage) a foot of snow fell inside. I cannot see the houses across the street, because the wind is whipping the still-falling snow into a froth.

Many people are without power. Fortunately, although I'm total electric, it's still nice and cozy inside. Everything's closed in the western part of South Dakota. The snowplows have been called back in off the streets and highways.

I haven't seen a winter storm like this since the Blizzard of '49. But that was in January. This was predicted, but we kinda becom insulated (pun) from weather forecasts, especially those that warn us of a blizzard in May.

It was 77 degrees Fahrenheit two days ago, and it's 'sposed to be 60 on Sunday.
