At random: "Submariners are a bunch of intelligent misfits that somehow seem to get along, understand each other and work well together.” -- Red Hanley who overheard a skimmer officer say this while talking to a non-navy type

Below story (see link at end) is about Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall and events connected with it set for May 27-June 2 in Wadsworth, Ohio, which is in Northeast Ohio.

Jan Scruggs, Vietnam vet who is credited with coming up with the idea for the Washington located memorial, will attend, speak. Cyclists from Rolling Thunder and American Legion will accompany the truck as it moves the wall to downtown Wadsworth.(Good move for several reasons!)

Wadsworth is about 15 minutes from the national military cemetery. Believe memorial for USS Grunion also near cemetery (Rittman/Doylestown area)

If you're contemplating attending, some other things to do in the area, depending on your schedule.

Akron: National Inventors Hall of Fame and Museum. Stan Hywet Mansion and Gardens.

Canton: National Football Hall of Fame

Cleveland: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Great Lake Science Center, Cleveland Zoo, Cleveland Botanical Gardens and OF COURSE, USS COD!

If you have more time, be SURE to visit Amish Country. Ohio has the largest Amish population in USA. Get some fantastic Swiss cheese, Trail bologna. Take time in Dover, Ohio, to tour Warther's Museum to see the priceless cravings in walnut, ebony and ivory done by the legendary Mooney Warther. Carvings trace the history of railroad engines/cars. Smithsonian once offered millions for the collection. (see Warther's Museum web site)

Maybe I'll see you in Wadsworth!! It's 15 minutes from my house in Medina.
