I met the father of the COB on the USS North Carolina today in line at the Santa Fe Greenhouses here in Santa Fe. He was wearing a North Carolina ball cap with dolphins so I had to ask him about it. He went to the recent ceremonies and got a tour of the boat. He was definitely impressed. He's also quite a proud father.

Who's the COB??? I have a few frmr shipmates that are COBs now and I have lost track of where they are.. MMCM(SS/DV) Blackwell is on Texas I think and STSCM Flemming did his COB tour on the LA and ETCS(SS) Chavez is on a T-Hull and others that I served with in the early 90's are up for their COB tours now. On 25 July 2008 my former ENS later LT turns over command of the USS Montpillear and sadly I cannot be there due to it being the same day as the greatest man I ever walked with's birthday.. My dad and he turns 70. Funny part is I went to my old LT's boat earlier last week in Norfolk to see him and he had taken the morning off to be with his kids and when the duty officer (the WEPS no less) called him and handed me the phone it was like it has only been a couple of days since I seen him last instead of 15 years. My god how time fly's when you are having fun, hard to believe that I have 18 years of service in now and I look forward to my last few years before I can retire.
