ROTHERBERGER, Robert G. “Ace”, 87, Alsace Township, PA passed away May 18, 2008, at 12:45 a.m. in his residence. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Irvin and Eva Gertrude (Heckman) Rothenberger. He was employed for 30 years in the cold-rolling department of Brush Wellman in Shoemakersville, until his retirement in 1984. He was a 1940 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a torpedoman second class in the submarine service. He was a member of Salem Shalter's Lutheran Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Elsie H. (Hiester) Rothenberger, are two daughters, Bonnie A. (Rothenberger) Pleva, Fleetwood, and Betty L. (Rothenberger), wife of Dennis Brown, West Lawn; and a son, Robert G. Jr., husband of Elna R. (Pouse) Rothenberger, Exeter Township. Other survivors include two brothers, Carl U. Rothenberger, Hyde Park, and Arthur L. Rothenberger, Alsace Township. There are also six grandchildren: Joshua P. and Jonathan R. Pleva, Marybeth (Pleva) Rhodes, Britton Reider, James A. Rothenberger and Jamie Lee Rothenberger; and six great-grandchildren: Codi Rhodes, Hayden Rhodes, Jacob Pleva, Lucas Pleva, Morgan Pleva and Cory Rothenberger. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Bean Funeral Homes, 16th & Rockland streets, Hampden Heights, with the Rev. Robert R. Mitchell Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends will be received Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem Shalter's Lutheran Church, 2032 Mount Laurel Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
