Don't you hate it when someone uses "somebody" as his attributive source? The truth is, I was sitting at the bar in the local HOOTERS and this guy I never met and will probably never see again, was telling about the small dope running submarines that were attached to the bottom of longrange fishing trawlers could be launched unseen to convey narcotic loads to designated coastal locations. As described, the craft is entered by an access hatch located in the bottom (bilge area) of the trawler and once the two hatches (boat hatch and trawler hatch) were secured, the boat could be detached to make its' unseen dope delivery round trip. Upon returning when the sub neared the trawler it releases a locator bouy and a pair of divers go down and pull it in to the watertight bottom fitting and reattach it to the bottom ofr the trawler. The whole thing sounded like James Bond to me. The fellow told us that he was a First Class Coast Guardsman with the Drug Interdiction folks. One thing being a smokeboatsailor has taught me....never believe 90% of what people withy their butts attached to bar stools, say. Anyone else ever heard of subs going around hauling cocaine loads, attached to Charlie Tuna catchers? DEX

W-O-W...Thanks Paul....Wonder what those guys pay and how difficult it is to make 3rd Class....how long do you have to mess cook? Stand in port topside watches in the winter? And, chip and paint the damn things? You think an old wornout 67 year old virtuoso on helm and planes could get an alley rack? Do they require you to snort the cargo? You think they would sign up me and Ray Stone? DEX

Sure............................Hugo Chavez in Venezula is buying them a fleet of Russian older model Project 877E Kilos.....
A least that's what he promised them, but first they have to get rid of the USN, a job that Chavez can't handle.....Actually,
the cartel guys have actually tried small subs and have not been successful......Chavez is reportedly ready to sign a deal with Moscow to buy the older Project 877e Kilos, but since he's running out of cash.....and has a lot of problems at home, the Russians may not come through. He does have a handful of Russian jets and a few PC's that fire Chinese ss missiles....
He's NOW rapidily back away from his boasts about taking on Columbia, which has a much better US trained and equipped military than he has...
In 2009 the US losses the only airfield it has access to in SA.....China will pick up the lease......we'll have a lot more trouble in SA from China than Chavez....one reason why we are re-instating the "Fourth Fleet"......
