MacLEAN, David S., 69, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his home. He was born October 14, 1938, in Evanston, former resident of Northbrook, living in Grayslake for the past 24 years. David was a Navy man and direct descendant of military officers who served in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. He served on the Bushnel Submarine Tender and crewed on a submarine. A visionary, innovative and creative automation and manufacturing engineer, revolutionized production at Intercraft Industries and founded McLean Manufacturing in Libertyville. David developed patents for medical equipment and also developed high speed assembly systems. Surviving are his wife, Rebecca "Becky" MacLean; three daughters, Janice (Patrick) Lynch of Gilbert, Ariz., Dawn McLean Schanz of Buffalo Grove and Linda (Craig) Allen of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Kristin, Corey, Willow and Raelee; his sister, Dorothy (Gene) Laughlin of Galena; and brother, Bill (Nancy) MacLean of Tahoe City, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center. For information, 847-362-3009.
