Received from a friend...

“Paul Vetter was a member of the Viking Squadron, the Minnesota Chapter of US Submarine Veterans of WWII. In the 60s when we built the Swordfish Memorial, Paul donated the Kasota Stone from his company for the memorial's base. He was too far away to attend meetings, but we saw him at National conventions a number of times.” - Donna Sellman

Shipmate Paul J. Vetter was a classmate of my father's at Stout State Institute, now University of Wisconsin-Stout, in Memominee, Wisconsin. Shipmate Vetter was Class of 1949, my father Lloyd J. Johnson (MM3 USN, USS Aucilla AO-56) was Class of 1950. Both took their degrees in Industrial Arts Education. Now both serve on the Staff of the Supreme Commander.

And when I retired in 1993, with both my parents present, it was in front of the USS Parche (SS-384) conning tower on the Subase at Pearl Harbor.

Small word, isn't it?

Bon Voyage, Shipmate. Sailor, Rest Your Oars.
