MORSE, Robert B., surrounded by his loving family, died on July 18, 2008, in Tucson, AZ, after a prolonged battle with cancer and complications from a bone marrow transplant for leukemia. Bob was born in Tillamook, Oregon, on February 5, 1944, to Robert and Mildred (Hall) Morse. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Katy; children Michelle Gearey, Jay Morse, Kimberly Morse, Heather Perry, Jennifer (Michael) Swansen; grandchildren Jordan, Zachary, Emma, Caleb, Christian, Carly; and his cherished sister, Susan Phillips Morse. Bob grew up in Longview/Kelso, Washington, and Cupertino, California. He graduated from Cupertino High School in 1962, earned his B.A. at California State University, Hayward, and his M.Ed at Western Washington University, Bellingham. Bob began his working career serving in the US Navy for four years as a submariner on the USS Rock-a profession he remembered throughout his lifetime with great pride. Bob's next adventure was teaching Special Education in the Sedro Woolley School District for twenty-five years. His students, their families, and his co-workers were a source of unending delight for him. Bob was a remarkable, gentle man, who could fix anything, and who inspired great love and laughter. He had many true, lasting friendships-it was so easy to love Bob! Bob will be remembered by all for his courage and love of life (and Katy!). During the last years of life, Bob was very ill, but he never lost his zest for living or his fantastic sense of humor. The next challenge was just "a bump in the road," as Bob liked to say, and he never stopped planning his next camping/fishing trip to Blue Lake, his next jungle exploration to South America, or his next truck. Bob's favorite motto was "never give up," and he never did. Bob's family would like to express deep appreciation to Dr. Robert Raish and his staff at North Puget Oncology for their excellent care and unending kindness. Bob was so grateful to them all. We would also like to express our appreciation to the Kindred Hospital staff, Tucson, AZ, for their care, compassion, and support during Bob's last illness. There will be a celebration of Bob's life at Hillcrest Lodge in Mt. Vernon, August 17, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bob's favorite charity, Heiffer International. Donations may be made by phone at 1-800-422-0474, or mailed to Heifer International, P.O. Box 8058, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72203-8055.
P.S. As Bob would say "No matter where you go, there you are!" We love you, Bobby.
