HOLDER, Dwight Wilbur, 85, of Winston Salem, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Clemmons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 20, 1923 in Forsyth County a son of the late Oscar Holder and Rebecca Boose Holder. Dwight was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Navy on the submarine USS Angler (SS-240), and was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was a life long member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Dwight loved working in his flower garden and was an antique clock collector. He was preceded in death by his wife, Monica Day Holder and one son, James Wilbur Holder. Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia Ann Holder Grant and husband Ronald of Winston Salem and one son, Timothy Day Holder, Sr. and wife Connie of Vass. Five grandchildren, James Brandon Holder, Timothy Day Holder, Jr., Andrew Crews Holder, Ian Matthew Grant, Lucas Alexander Grant. One great-grandson, Jacob Evan Holder. Two sisters Leona (Billy) Ain of West Palm Beach, Florida and Juanita Gardner of Charlotte. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Wilson, Jr. and Rev. Derry R. Barnhardt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Visitation will be in the Church Fellowship Hall following the Burial service. J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home of Winston Salem in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church 3543 Robinhood Rd. Winston Salem, NC 27106.
