ALBRYCHT, Robert (Beau), 62, of Meriden, husband of Debra Suzio Albrycht, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Born in Meriden on January 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Henry and Anita Gamache Albrycht, Sr. He graduated from St. Joseph School in 1961 and also attended Wilcox Tech. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served aboard the USS Little Rock (CLG-4), USS Thomas J. Gary (DER-326) and the USS Bream (SS-243), after graduating from Submarine School in Groton on Jan. 13, 1967. He retired after 37 years with the Yankee Gas Co. He was a member of the IBEW-L.U. 457 for 37 years and a Meriden Elk since 1976. Besides his loving wife Debra, he is survived by a son, Jason and his wife, Nicole; a daughter Kari and her fiancé, John Reiman; one grandson, Chase; a brother, Henry Albrycht Jr. and his wife, Janet; two sisters, Katherine Pechinski and her husband, Ted and Mary Hanchuruck and her husband, Thomas; his father and mother-in-law, John and Marie Suzio; two brothers-in-law, David Suzio and his wife, Joy and Paul Suzio and his wife, Grace; several nieces, nephews and cousins among his many friends. He was predeceased by a grandson, Haiden Hunter Albrycht and his best friend, Jack McMahon. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial with full Military Honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. www.jferryfh.com.


BAER, H. William, 82, of Beardstown died Friday morning, August 8, 2008, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown. He was born December 4, 1925, in Beardstown, the son of Herschel and Louise Wheeler Baer. He married Sue Adams on Sept. 25, 1949, at First United Methodist Church in Beardstown, and she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Toni (husband, John) Musgrove of Girard; his son, Jeff (wife, Cheryl) Baer of Beardstown; four grandchildren, Will (wife, Abby) and Jessie Musgrove and Christopher and Phillip Baer; nine brothers and sisters, including his twin brother, Phil (wife, Bobbie) Baer of Beardstown, Ted Baer of Beardstown, Pat (husband, Harold) Beets of Godfrey, Jim (wife, Rosie) Baer of Rushville, Peggy (husband, Jess) Elmore of Abingdon, Tom Baer of Cleveland, Tenn., twins, Judy (husband, Tom) DeWitt of Beardstown and Jack (wife, Linda) Baer of Godfrey, and Nancy (husband, Stan) Magness of Quincy. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gloria Mallicoat and Carolyn Jo Baer. Mr. Baer graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1943 and then enlisted in the US Navy, serving as a submariner aboard the USS Bugara for three war patrols and the USS Bumper in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Beardstown, where he was employed at Central Illinois Public Service until his retirement in 1986 as an overhead design and construction engineer. Bill was a faithful and active member of First United Methodist Church in Beardstown, where he and his wife taught 2- and 3-year-old Sunday school for many years. He was also enthusiastic and committed to Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis and the Prison Ministry. As a woodworker, he enjoyed making toys and giving them away and was also a craftsman in building furniture. Known to some as "the gentle giant," Mr. Baer had a generous giving heart and a sincere, quiet spirit. He thoroughly loved his family and friends and will be genuinely missed, especially by those who knew him as "Goz." Memorial funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Beardstown, with the family meeting friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Beardstown City Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to Heritage Manor East Activity Fund in Beardstown.
