LAYMON, Howard Oscar, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2008. Howard was born on November 29, 1921 in Michigan. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Howard served four years with the U.S. Navy submarine service. He retired from the Hayes Albion Corporation after 33 years. He moved to Burke County in 1979. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Louise Warlick Laymon; a sister, Lorene; and three brothers, Walter, David, and Lee. The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph May officiating. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the North American Mission Board, Attn: Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, P.O. Box 116543, Atlanta, GA 30368-6543. WEST, Warren Douglas, 79, died peacefully at home with loved ones on July 30, 2008. Originally from Nortonville, KY, he is survived by his life partner, Tracy Ross; son, Bobby Brady of Louisville, KY; sister, Deborah Burgett of Henderson, KY; brother, Vincent West and cousin, Shirley Powell, of Nortonville, KY. Douglas served in the US Navy as part of the submarine corp. Memorial donations may be made to The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.
