At random: A submarine, the TURTLE, was employed by the American revolutionary army to attack the British. It was built by David Bushnell at Saybrook, Connecticut, just a few miles from the present site of Electric Boat Division of the General Dynamics Corporation, and the U.S. Naval Submarine Base.

Thanks to Patti for sending this along.  Patti says, "...he had been the webmaster of the George Washington website...and one of the organizers of the wonderful Reunion we attended back in 2006.
He will be greatly missed."

"First and Finest"

There is a port of no return where ships may ride at anchor for a little space.  And then some starless night the cable slips leaving only an eddy at the mooring place.  Gulls veer no longer, Sailor rest your oar.  No tangled Wreckage will be washed ashore.

Hand Salute,

MS1(SS) Kenneth L. Szablewski. . . Rest your oar.

Ready Two.

"Little Ski" as he was know by his Sea Robin shipmates, served as CS3(SS) in 1963.  He made many lasting friendships on the boat that continued to his final days.

I made it my duty to attend his burial ceremony and represent his many friends, both local & distant that were not able to pay their respects.

Sailor, Rest Your Oar.
