At random: Insignia of the Navy's submarine service is a submarine flanked by two dolphins. Dolphins, or porpoises, the traditional attendants to Poseidon, Greek God of the Sea and patron deity of sailors, are symbolic of a calm sea, and are sometimes called the 'sailors' friend. In addition to the Dolphins, those World War II submariners who participated in successful combat patrols may wear the coveted Submarine Combat Insignia.

I hope I can say this right, because I am just about the most Unsports-Understanding person you all will ever meet.

Rapid City's Canyon Lake All-Stars punched their ticket for the Little League World Series In Williamsport, Pennsylvania when they bested Coon Rapids, Minnesota 7 to 1 in the Midwest Regional Finals in Indianapolis last week.

Canyon Lake will open the Little League World Series at noon MDT on Friday against Southeast champions, Tampa, Florida.

It's the first time in the sixty-nine years of Little League World Series competitions that a Rapid City Little League team has competed at this level.

Profiles and pictures of the thirteen eleven and twelve-year-olds were posted in today's paper. I would be proud to call any one of these cute and talented boys my grandson. (That last was not in the paper.)

That's right, JB, we need to keep this submarine focused so the old worn out chief's don't get their drawers in a knot.
